Candy Cameron Biography

A native of Kansas City, Kansas, Candy Cameron lived there only a year before beginning the many moves—to Maine, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Puerto Rico, California---that would be required of an air force pilot's daughter. The family finally settled in Southern California, where Candy studied Communications at California State University, Northridge and spent time performing on the bar band circuit.

During that time her musical influences came mostly from the Los Angeles singer/songwriter Troubador scene— Jackson Browne, Stephen Stills, Emmylou Harris, Gram Parsons, the Burrito Brothers, Van Morrison, Stevie Nicks, Joni Mitchell, and Neil Young. Now days those influences have grown to include such artists as Augustana, The Fray, Incubus, the GooGoo Dolls, Lucero, Vertical Horizon, Ryan Adams, John Hiatt, Third Eye Blind, Dave Barnes, the Garden State Soundtrack artists and sooo many more.

Prior to moving to Nashville, Candy lived in Carmel Valley, California, wrote songs, performed in local bands and did volunteer work for the West Coast Songwriter’s Association. After making several trips to Nashville to meet with publishers, in 2001, she moved there with her husband and identical twin daughters in order to accept a staff writing deal with DreamWorks Publishing. Since then she has had songs recorded by Reba McEntire (featuring Alison Krauss & Dan Tyminski); Diamond Rio; Kenny Rogers (featuring Alison Krauss); Josh Gracin; Jamie O'Neal; Susan Ashton; Michelle Poe; Lee Greenwood; and others including artists in Europe and her songs have also been used in tv/film. Nowdays, Candy is rockin happy to be signed to RPM/Horipro and have the current Chris Cagle single, What Kinda Gone.
