Tommy Karlas Biography

Tommy Karlas was born July 27, 1981 in St Louis, MO, and grew up right across the Mississippi River in East Alton, IL. By age 14, Tommy was already interested in songwriting, and his first trip to Nashville, hearing a performance by Gary Burr at the Bluebird Café, cemented his love for country music. During his teens, which saw many trips to the Bluebird, Tommy started up a honky-tonk club band called “Mason Dixon”, who played around the St Louis area for about 2 years.

Tommy has songwriting credits on Randy Travis’ “Not Your Cross To Bear”, Blake Shelton’s “What I Wouldn’t Give”, and Montgomery Gentry’s “Roll With Me”. Tommy’s main influences have been Gary Burr, Skip Ewing, and Hugh Presswood. His strength and driving force as a songwriter is melody. Tommy thanks his mentor in the songwriting craft, Jason Blume, for always listening to his songs and offering encouragement and critique.

Tommy is looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship with HoriPro Entertainment Group.
